{"id":220,"date":"2008-08-31T22:57:48","date_gmt":"2008-09-01T02:57:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heroesinrehab.ca\/blog\/?p=220"},"modified":"2008-09-01T23:23:55","modified_gmt":"2008-09-02T03:23:55","slug":"i-declare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/heroesinrehab.ca\/blog\/2008\/08\/31\/i-declare\/","title":{"rendered":"I declare&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;the\u00a0\u00a0<a title=\"The Juniorvanian national holiday is Founders Day\" href=\"http:\/\/heroesinrehab.ca\/blog\/2008\/08\/26\/ew\/\" target=\"_blank\"> First Annual Founder\u2019s Day Celebration and National Holiday<\/a>, including Festivals of\u00a0 Sport and Competition (a la Jacques Rogge) &#8220;a most remarkable success.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Details to follow, but the winner of the inaugural Juniorvanian Open Championship of Par 3 Golf &#8211; with a score of 34 (+7)\u00a0 &#8211; is my father in law Harold.\u00a0\u00a0 The rest of the family, despite a truly egregious amount of cheating, was unable to approach that level of athletic prowess, and our little Nation has its first sporting hero.\u00a0 In the evening, following the conclusion of the Feats portion of our program, all of the athletes participated in a most satisfying exhibition of carnivorous and diabetic excess, with the result that some of our younger competitors were perhaps dietarily prevented from retiring for the evening in the usual and expected fashion.<\/p>\n<p>Spouse and I did not share the same difficulty following the conclusion of yesterday&#8217;s festivities.\u00a0 Whereas the little ones, propelled by sugary fuel<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/warwalker\/2818033986\/\" title=\"casa di Spouse y Junior\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3271\/2818033986_d95708dfb5_m.jpg\" width=\"240\" height=\"160\" alt=\"IMG_3960\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a> and the momentum of excitement, struggled to fire their retro rockets and slowly fall out of high orbit to a gentle splashdown in a cozy bed, Spouse and I instead smashed through the atmosphere on an astonishingly aggressive and direct trajectory towards Earth.\u00a0 With a fiery trail marking our smoking path, we hurtled Skylab-esque into an exhausted, but very satisfied, pile of coma in our little tent on the front lawn.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to all of the athletes and participants, it was truly a Founders&#8217; Day to remember.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;the First Annual Founder\u2019s Day Celebration and National Holiday, including Festivals of Sport and Competition (a la Jacques Rogge) &#8220;a most remarkable success.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Details to follow, but the winner of the inaugural Juniorvanian Open Championship of Par 3 Golf &#8211; with a score of 34 (+7) &#8211; is my father in law Harold.
