Positive about Negative Tripods.

I came across this idea, believe it or not, while at work.  I had to take a moment to post about it;  neat idea and possibly just the thing to save the day in the right situation, such as where it is inconvenient or impossible to bring a real tripod in to an event.

    One thing to watch out for — make sure the string is fairly un-stretchable (the link points to a kevlar thread, which should be pretty good), or try something made with chain instead.

    I keep meaning to try it, but always seem to end up hand-holding anyway — either I need to practice my on-tripod/monopod technique to capture action, or stick with a lighter camera. E-420?

    Good idea. I’m wondering if maybe the best solution of all isn’t aircraft cable. It would have the solidity of chain without it’s rattly bulkiness. What do you think?
