Silver Medal, but no Silver Spoon

I wrote a little bit the other day about Canadian show-jumping phenomenon Eric Lamaze. Here is a great article about Lamaze from the Toronto Star; I don’t know how long it will remain online, but it gives some pretty good insight into the type of beginnings from which he arose.

    I know what it’s like to have something in your eye. Eric LaMaze, was fantastic in his jump-off. Truly an inspiring story, and one that should remain as news for a long time. Hurray for him, and hurray for Canada. Clean jump, et al.

    Yeah, it was a phenomenal effort by both Eric and Hickstead. It was a medal well-deserved; as a partnership they’ve done very well for the last year and a half. I was glad to see Beezie Madden and Authentic take home a medal too; she seems like a genuinely nice person and she is undeniably one of the most talented riders in the world.
